25+ LDS Art Illustrating Walking with Christ

Walking with Christ is a challenging yet redeeming journey. Just as the Sermon on the Mount teaches, it often requires taking the higher road or responding to life’s conflicts in ways that seem almost counterintuitive. Yet, as a result, we become something greater than we already are. As Ezra Taft Benson so eloquently put it:

“Men and women who turn their lives over to God will find out that he can make a lot more out of their lives than they can. He will deepen their joys, expand their vision, quicken their minds, strengthen their muscles, lift their spirits, multiply their blessings, increase their opportunities, comfort their souls, raise up friends, and pour out peace. Whoever will lose his life to God will find he has eternal life.”

Each of our artists and photographers has had personal journeys walking Christ. Whether it has been everyday life experiences or in their process of becoming an artist, they recognize Jesus' influence. Much of what they create is intended to help others come to know the Savior in the same way that they have. In today’s challenging and often dark world, they want to provide light and hope. Art has a unique way of inspiring and encouraging us. It reminds us that life has deep meaning, sometimes so deep we cannot explain it through words alone.

And LDS art adds a layer to that message: as children of God, we have the eternal potential for growth. We may not always see it, but we can trust in the handiwork of our Creator to, in time, help us realize that potential and become like Him.

We hope you enjoy this collection of art celebrating discipleship and what it means to walk with Jesus.

Walking With Christ - The Invitation

Every journey, regardless of destination, must begin with the first step. It is important to remember that God does not force our will or our dedication to how we choose to live our lives. But like Jesus beckoning to the fishermen from the shore, He always invites.

That may mean giving up something we cherish, like the fishermen giving up their occupation. Yet, the peace and fulfillment we receive are greater than anything that the world alone can offer.

Walking With Christ - The Path of Discipleship

The road to anything worthwhile is never easy. Whether that is learning a new skill, completing a project, or simply having a productive day, the eternal law of the harvest applies. We have to put in the effort before we can reap the fruit. Yet, there is something about going through that difficult process that makes the end result so much more satisfying.

It is the same when we do our best to follow God’s commandments and His plan for us. Some instances will be much easier and enjoyable than others, but in the end, we will see that He has helped us create a masterpiece.

Walking With Christ - The Triumph

The apostle Paul reminded early disciples of the victory that comes when we walk with Christ. In his letter to the people at Corinth, he wrote:

“Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.” - 1 Corinthians 2:9

Regardless of what tragedies and losses we experience in this life, God’s promises last into the eternities. Jesus Christ has already suffered for the pains and sins of the world. He has overcome even the darkest moments in human history. Through Him, we can overcome sin and death and return to our Father in Heaven. Through Him, our soul can reach its ultimate and eternal potential as an offspring of God.
