As he sinks, he cries, \"Lord, save me!\" Jesus stretched out his hand and said, \"Why did you doubt?\", as if to say, \"Of course I will save you; why did you doubt my ability or desire to come to your aid?\" As I read Matthew 14:30-31, I couldn't help but reflect on my own experiences of sinking into depths, feeling like I couldn't breathe, and descending into despair, and the times when I, too, cried out, \"Lord, save me.\" This painting is a reminder that, even in our darkest moments, we are never alone. The outstretched hand of Christ is always there, ready to save and to rescue.
