story behind the art

How Lovely Was the Morning by Annie Henrie Nader

Inspiration:

Oh, how lovely was the morning! Radiant beamed the sun above...When within the shady woodland Joseph sought the God of love. - Joseph Smith's First Prayer, Hymn No. 26

Quest for Zion painting 1 This painting is a triptych of three important firsts- the panel on the left represents Joseph Smith’s first vision in the grove, the middle panel represents the river where the first baptisms of the Restoration occurred, and the panel on the far right represents Joseph Smith revealing the first printed copy of the Book of Mormon. The painting is meant to display the outset of restoring Christ’s church again on the earth, and the beginning of a great quest for building Zion.
