Inspiration:

...I have drunk out of that bitter cup which the Father hath given me, and have glorified the Father in taking upon me the sins of the world, in the which I have suffered the will of the Father in all things from the beginning. - 3 Nephi 11:11

In this painting Christ is pleading in prayer with the Father. This is a representation of the Atonement where Christ is our advocate with the Father in paying the great price for our sins. His red robe represents His blood shed for the sins of mankind. The light pouring down represents the presence of the Father during this prayer, the rock upon which Christ prays represents how we must be built upon the rock of our Redeemer.
