story behind the art

The Father, The Mother, and The Son

Inspiration:

That which is of God is light; and he that receiveth light, and continueth in God, receiveth more light; and that light groweth brighter and brighter until the perfect day. - Doctrine & Covenants 50:24

I wanted more light in my life. Along that journey of seeking light, I had this idea come to mind. It was a picture of a Venn diagram with the Heavenly Family. While painting, I listened to "The Spiritual Physics of Light" by Aaron D. Franklin. I thought about how some of us may be comfortable in the light of the Heavenly Mother, the Father, or the Son, depending on our life experiences. For example, if we grew up with an abusive parent, we may not connect with The Father or The Mother. Then I thought about the blood of the Son and how the whole Heavenly Family wept while he suffered. After that, I thought about how they weep for us and want us to return to them and be together as a Heavenly Family once more. Light comes in different tones and shades. I choose yellow for The Son because the sun is healing and enables us to grow by His light. The Father is blue because He reminds me of the vast consistency of the Universe. I chose a rose tone for Heavenly Mother because I imagine her to be sweet and caring. But like roses if you handle her or her loved ones with the harm, you will be pierced with thorns. I included the symbol of red poppies because they represent the blood of Christ. They show how we can grow gracefully through His sacrifice and love for us.
