story behind the art

President Russell M Nelson

Inspiration:

This painting is inspired by the artist's personal experience presenting President Russell M Nelson with his portrait in 2018. As busy as he was, the prophet made time to meet with and talk individually with each member of Ken's family. He was 94 years old and acted with the energy of someone who was decades younger. Ken recalls, "I'll never forget how important he made us feel and how personable and genuinely kind he was. I hope I can one day be 1/10th of the person he was." The impact of that meeting inspired Ken to create this new version, depicting President Nelson in white.
