Inspiration:

But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. - Luke 2:19

I wanted to convey Mary the mother of Christ, our Savior, in the most sacred and pure way possible. Mary was chosen above all women to be the mother of Christ and this image was intended to show just how pure, holy, and meek she was. In sharp contrast to many of my paintings that use light and shadow chiaroscuro methods, much like many of my favorite master painters, this image shows little contrast and is intended to let the very subtle whites and grays focus your eyes on the faces in the painting.
