For Unto Us a Child Is Born, For Unto Us a Son Is Given

Inspiration:

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. - Isaiah 9:6

“For Unto Us a Child is Born, For Unto Us a Son is Given.”

At His birth Jesus and Mary are surrounded by competent midwives. At His death, Christ and His mother are administered to by helpful women who prepare His body for burial.

The two paintings are displayed with a small gap between them. This calls to mind the short time between birth and death. That gap is the arc of our story, mission, and opportunity to become a disciple of Christ.

Our devotion is best expressed through imitation of Him.

HE IS RISEN
