30 INSPIRING NATIVITY SCENE PICTURES

Joseph Brickey depicts the scene of the stable in a way that is both beautiful and realistic. Livestock and straw surround the holy family.

Mary’s hair doesn’t fall neatly, and even Joseph looks a little tired. And yet, their worshipful expressions speak volumes. We love this piece for its smooth use of light and color.

The infant Messiah is placed in the center and surrounded by the worshipful gazes of Mary, Joseph, and even the livestock, making Him the clear focus of the picture--and the holiday.

The thing we like most about this Nativity scene picture is that the circle is open to the viewer. It’s as if you are standing in the stable as well, participating in this most sacred moment of Earth’s history.    

Annie Henrie Nader has a unique style that she brings to her Christian art. Here we see another image of the holy family together.

The warm colors in this picture further communicate a sense of warmth and closeness. It is a profound message when we consider the difficulties and harsh realities that they faced even before the birth of the Savior.  

In this beautiful painting, we Mary holding Jesus. You’ve likely seen many images of this variety, but what sets Jennah’s apart is the realism.

Mary, in this painting, looks very young. There are no halos or glowing lights, and yet Jennah captures the sacred beauty of this highly favored woman and her precious son.  

Jesse and Kelsey use a combination of photography and digital painting in their work. Their work is typically characterized by dramatic lighting, which is what we see in this Nativity picture.

The new star casts a bright beam down onto the lowly stable where we see the holy family silhouetted against the light of such a miraculous event.  

The Nativity triptych by Annie separates the traditional nativity scene into three separate paintings. We have the wise men, Mary and Jesus, and the Shepherds.

A division like this allows us to reflect on the different aspects that make up this sacred event.  

Jeff Pugh’s nativity scene painting focuses entirely on the Savior. The simple shapes and colors that Jeff uses give this piece a modern, minimalist style.

There aren’t any extraneous embellishments or any embellishments at all. Just the infant Messiah sleeping soundly through what truly appears to be a silent night.  

Henrik takes an impressionist approach to his nativity scene picture. His brushstrokes bring together a wide variety of colors and textures to create a simple but joyful scene.

It gives the impression that we are looking at a stained glass window which, though his style is modern, adds a traditional sort of flair.  

Jorge’s fourth piece is unique. It doesn’t have the hard borders as in the last to paintings, but neither does it have the free-flowing feel of his other works.

The crisp, vertical design keeps the holy family in reverent focus. The trained eye might even notice that the eye-catching patterns and shapes of Mary and Joseph’s clothes direct the gaze to further focus on Jesus Christ.   

Eric Dowdle is another artist that has a style all his own.

In this colorful, almost playful nativity scene picture, we see the entire story: the star, the cities, the shepherds, the wise men, the angels, and of course, Mary, Joseph, and the infant Jesus.

All of the movement, detail, and color create endless interest for the eyes, making this is a fun image for teaching children about this sacred holiday.   

Here, Annie uses different textures that give her pictures a vintage feel. In this nativity scene painting, we see only an angel.

She appears to be looking down at the infant Messiah, and her face is full of reverence, gratitude, and awe.

While we don’t see the typical Mary and Joseph scene in this painting, the angel’s expression and the title is a beautiful reminder of why we celebrate Christmas.
