Enjoying Salt Lake Temple Square Christmas Lights in 2021

Many individuals and families have a tradition of visiting Temple Square during Christmas to enjoy the annual display of glowing lights. However, with the Salt Lake City Temple under construction, those in charge of decorating have had to be creative in adjusting the usual display. This year may also call for some adjustments. That is why we wanted to share our collection of Temple Square Christmas lights photos!

The Salt Lake City Temple pictures collection is one of the largest in our gallery. Among photos and paintings of cheerful flowers and stunning autumn leaves, we have a selection of Christmas light photos to share. We hope they help bring the Christmas spirit into your workday or your home.

These pictures are unique, not just because the Christmas lights at temple square only come around once a year. They’re unique because they reflect some of the symbolism many of us associate with light and Jesus Christ coming into the world.

Of course, all of our LDS Temple pictures invite a spirit of reverent worship, but the beautiful strings of lights hanging from the trees and Temple Square buildings add another layer of meaning to what it means to follow Jesus Christ. The scriptures declare that “in him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not” (1 John 4-5).

The Christmas season draws our focus to what is most important in life. Or, in other words, we see what brings true meaning and light into the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The influence of Jesus Christ in our lives brings a deep sense of peace that we cannot find in any temporary pleasures or escapes that the world offers.

Jesus Christ is the guiding and redeeming light to an often dark and chaotic world. So many are desperate to find meaning and hope amid life’s challenges. Christ’s teachings, when understood, offer both. When so many feel a sense of confusion and isolation, Jesus Christ teaches us to serve those around us and reminds us of our true identity as children of God.

Ultimately, He came to offer us a connection with Heaven by overcoming sin and death. In that way, Christmas lights serve as a reminder of where we can turn when we experience the dark and cold winters of our own lives. It is also a perfect opportunity to follow Christ’s example and be a light to others who may be struggling.

The Altus team wishes you and yours a very Merry Christmas, and we hope you enjoy our growing collection!
