Mercys Embrace by Annie Henrie Nader
About this Image:
While we often mark ourselves and others within the binary language of saint and sinner, good and bad, member and nonmember, Christ cares for us equally. In Mercy’s Embrace, Nader depicts Christ holding two different sheep, representing the variety of God’s children, from different walks in life, and internally as we range from saint to sinner, explained Nader. As religious symbolism, the lilies represent the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, the palm fronds represent His triumphal Second Coming, and the different angels, said Nader, represent our varying states of love, meditation, and worship.

About the Artist:
ANNIE HENRIE NADER knew she wanted to be an artist at an early age. She has early memories of painting with her father, a professional artist. Annie graduated from Brigham Young University with a BFA in Illustration. As part of her education, she was able to study abroad in England and Italy. She also served as a full-time missionary in southern England. These experiences, along with recently having become a mother, have inspired much of her art style and religious subject matter.
