Nauvoo the Beautiful by Mark Eastmond
About this Image:
Let all my saints come from afar.... and build a house to my name, for the Most High to dwell therein. - Doctrine and Covenants 124:25, 27
The Nauvoo temple stands as a reminder to us of the sacrifices of the early saints and what the blessings of the gospel were worth to them. At the peril of their lives, they completed the work and hundreds of saints received the blessings of the temple before being driven from their homes and their beloved Nauvoo. Today the Nauvoo temple reminds us of that the eternal blessings of the temple are worth whatever sacrifice we may need to make, to receive them.
About the Artist:
MARK EASTMOND grew up in Orem, Utah where he would watch his father bring beautiful images to life with oil paints, watercolors, and even mosaic tiles. But believe it or not, he got his college degree in Zoology and has spent much of his life in a successful career as a religion teacher. It wasn't until an inspiring trip to the Holy Land that Mark took up the paintbrush. His Christian-themed landscapes are stunningly crisp and express the artist's deep conviction for his beliefs.
