Inspiration:

Wherefore, be faithful, praying always, having your lamps trimmed and burning, and oil with you, that you may be ready at the coming of the Bridegroom. - Doctrine and Covenants 33:17

My daughter is the inspiration behind this image and also the model for it. A lesson at church had inspired her sufficiently to say how timely a painting of a wise virgin would be, eagerly awaiting the second coming of our Savior. I wanted to create the expression of the young women as she gazes steadfastly and confidently in the direction she knows the bridegroom will come, her lamp trimmed and burning brightly with oil she has accumulated a drop at a time, with enough to fill a vessel in case it is needed. The time is far spent, may we all catch the vision and not delay in our efforts to prepare for the return of the Son of God.
