Inspiration:

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. - John 14:6

In this painting, as in our lives, Christ is our example, our leader, and our guide. He is leading the way with his staff to guide and protect us; we look to Him and follow His teachings to return to our Father in Heaven. In His kindness, He is looking back at us to make sure that we are on the right path- that we follow Him. He is our guide in troubled times.
