Lead, Kindly Light

Inspiration:

I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. - John 8:12

There are many beautiful representations of Christ the Savior as our light, but the simple and poignant symbol of Him leading us down the darkened and narrow path of life is one that I have often drawn comfort from. To me, the verses of the beloved 1833 Hymn Lead Kindly Light capture perfectly the trials of life's journey, the comfort of His guidance, and the need for faith in every footstep along the way. The words of this hymn inspired me to create this painting. -Simon Dewey
